All information and services on GeoTime are provided "as is" and without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. GeoTime does not warrant or guarantee that the game will be error-free, constantly available, or completely secure against unauthorized access or malicious attacks.

We explicitly disclaim any liability for damages, whether direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential, arising from the use or inability to use this platform. Use of GeoTime is entirely at your own risk.

Liability for User-Generated Content

GeoTime lets players choose a nickname that is shown to the other players in the same room. Players with an account also appear on the public leaderboard with that name and their score.

We do not pre-screen, monitor, or endorse the names entered by players. Therefore, we cannot assume any liability for this content. Each player is solely legally responsible for the content they publish. Players can delete their account at any time, which also removes their entries from the leaderboard.

If we are made aware of any concrete legal violations (such as hate speech or illicit material), we will promptly investigate and remove or block the offending content or player without prior notice. Please use our contact email to report any such violations.

Street Imagery & Map Data

The street-level imagery in the game is loaded from Panoramax (pictures under CC-BY-SA 4.0, © the contributors) and, where a token is configured, from Mapillary; the pictures remain the property of the people who took them and the terms and licences of those services apply. The map you place your guess on is built from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, served by OpenFreeMap and rendered with MapLibre. The satellite view uses Esri World Imagery (© Esri, Maxar, Earthstar Geographics). These credits also appear in the footer of every page.

GeoTime never stores a picture. When a player ticks off a term in bingo mode, only the position, the viewing direction and the result of the check are saved – the picture itself stays on the device. If you want a specific image removed, please contact the respective service; we only display what these services deliver.

Third-Party Content & External Links

GeoTime contains links to external third-party websites, for example to Mapillary when a find is reviewed. We have no control over the content or security of these external sites. As such, we cannot assume any liability for the content or privacy practices of these linked sites. The provider or operator of the respective external site is always responsible for its content. A permanent control of the linked pages is unreasonable without concrete evidence of a violation of the law.

The name GeoTime, the logo and the design of this website belong to the operator. All other names, logos and trademarks mentioned are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.

GeoTime is an independent hobby project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the services whose content it displays.

Privacy

You can play without an account. In that case we only keep what the running game needs in memory: your chosen nickname, your guesses and your score. Nothing of that is written to disk once the room is gone.

If you create an account we store your username, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), the display name you choose, your language setting and the results of your finished games for the leaderboard. A session cookie keeps you logged in; a second cookie remembers your language. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

When you look at a street view or the map, your browser talks directly to Panoramax or Mapillary, to OpenFreeMap and, in satellite view, to Esri. Those services see your IP address like any website you visit. Please refer to their own privacy policies for details.

You can delete your account at any time; your leaderboard entries are removed with it. For questions about your data, write to the contact address above.
